Apple started the personal computer revolution in the 1980s, and has stayed a major player in technology ever since. Apple produced the iPod and watched it become a worldwide sensation. But Apple has never been able to establish itself as a player in making mobile phones- until now. The new cell phone made by Apple is now the most wanted mobile gadget in the world.

Apple's Steve Jobs announced that his company was developing a new cellular phone at the MacWorld conference in January 2007. This announcement about what we now know as the iPhone caused a worldwide sensation, because millions of people had been waiting for years for a single device combining the capabilities of an iPod and a cell phone. Months of media hype and press inquiries would follow, along with speculation about the iPhone's price and array of functions. Consumers lined up for hours to buy the iPhone when it was finally made available to the public on June 29, 2007. The iPhone is roughly as large as the iPod nano. It is currently available in three different colors (white, platinum, and black) with more colors and other visual options as possibilities in coming months.

The iPhone, by Apple is an amazing phone that has many more attributes than simple playing music and making phone calls. Using the iPhone, text messaging, watching visual media, taking pictures, surfing the internet, and even sending and receiving email is possible. Some people can hardly believe that such a small device can have so many uses, while others realize the amazing technology that is in their hands.

Since its release on June 29, the Apple cell phone has only been available through Apple stores and AT&T in the United States. However, the iPhone will be available for purchase in other countries beginning in late 2007.It was only a matter of time before Apple introduced a cell phone to the world. With a loyal fan base and nothing to lose, creating the iPhone has proven to be a good business decision.
